GoPrep Review (2026): Price, Is It Free, and Is It Worth It?

Last updated: October 2026. We are the team behind IELTS 9, a GoPrep competitor, so read this with that in mind. Every claim about GoPrep below comes from its own website or from going through its sign-up flow ourselves.

Quick answer: GoPrep (goprep.gg, the new name of IELTS.gg) is a real, paid AI IELTS platform with AI scoring for Writing and Speaking, mock tests, practice games and a band score guarantee. It is not free: the AI scoring needs a subscription, you only see the price after a sign-up quiz, and you can't try the scoring before you pay. If you want to see whether AI feedback actually helps you first, IELTS 9 lets you score 3 essays and 3 speaking answers a week for free.

What is GoPrep?

GoPrep is the platform that IELTS.gg rebranded into in 2026. If you type ielts.gg you now end up on goprep.gg (more on that in what happened to IELTS.gg). It is built by Aleem Labs, a team from Kazakhstan, and it is also an official registration centre of IDP IELTS in Kazakhstan, which is why you will see an IDP badge on its homepage. Its materials are still not official IELTS materials, as GoPrep itself states.

It now covers both Academic and General Training, with AI feedback, mock exams, "games" for practice and a personalised plan.

How much does GoPrep cost?

GoPrep does not publish its prices. You answer a quiz, give your email, and then see a paywall. When we went through it in late September 2026, it showed:

Plan	Price shown
1 month	$12.99
3 months (marked "recommended")	$17.99
12 months	$49.99

Each price was shown next to a crossed-out price twice as high, labelled as a 50% discount.

A few things worth knowing before you pay:

• Plans renew automatically. The paywall does not make that obvious, so check your subscription settings if you only want one month.
• The 50% "discount" was the same every time. In our test sign-ups the spin-the-wheel always landed on 50%, and the 10-minute countdown kept running after a reload. The crossed-out price is best read as an anchor, not a one-time deal.
• Prices may differ by country or change over time. What you see may not match the table above.

Is GoPrep free?

There is a free practice area (games and guides), but the things most people come for are paid: AI scoring of your essays and speaking, full mock tests and the study plan. There is no permanent free plan for those.

If you want to try AI feedback before paying anything, look for a platform that lets you score a few essays for free first (see the comparison below).

The GoPrep guarantee, explained

GoPrep advertises a "double result guarantee": raise your score, or get a refund. The guarantee terms are strict:

• Your starting result must be an official IELTS result of 6.5 or lower, issued within the last 3 months and uploaded within 7 days of subscribing.
• You need at least 90 days of continuous paid subscription, so a 1-month plan does not qualify.
• You must finish the platform's Success Checklist, 12 mock exams per section (48 in total), and 30 Writing tasks plus 30 Speaking sessions with AI feedback.
• You must retake IELTS within 60 days after your subscription ends and claim within 30 days of the exam.
• The promised improvement is +1.0 overall band. The refund covers the subscription only, not exam fees. (The homepage mentions covering your retake, but the terms page says exam fees are not covered.)

That is a real guarantee for a committed student starting at 6.5 or below. If you are already at 7.0+, it does not apply to you.

What GoPrep does well

• Low headline prices, especially the 3-month plan.
• Lots of practice formats: mock tests, AI-scored tasks, games and a study plan in one place.
• A clear guarantee with published terms.
• Strong local presence in Central Asia, including IDP registration.

Where it falls short

• No public pricing. You give your email before you see the cost.
• Pressure-style paywall: crossed-out prices, a wheel that lands on 50%, and a countdown.
• The guarantee asks a lot: 90+ paid days and 100+ tasks before a claim.
• Little to try for free if you want to test the AI scoring before paying.

GoPrep vs IELTS 9

We build IELTS 9, so here is the comparison as factually as we can put it:

	GoPrep	IELTS 9
Try AI scoring before paying	No	Yes, 3 Writing + 3 Speaking a week, free
See prices before sign-up	No	Yes, on /pricing
Free trial	None shown	3 days in most countries
Academic + General Training	Yes	Yes
Guarantee	+1.0 band; 90 paid days, 48 mock exams, 30 + 30 tasks	+0.5 band; 60 paid days, 20 + 20 tasks (terms)
Free tools, no sign-up	Games and guides	Band calculator, score converters, timers and more
1 month, first payment	$12.99	$13.99–15.99 with the new-member discount
3 months, first payment	$17.99	$24.49–27.99 with the new-member discount
12 months, first payment	$49.99	$34.99–39.99 with the new-member discount

Every new IELTS 9 member gets 20–30% off the first payment of any plan when they sign up, so the yearly plan costs less than GoPrep's. The real difference is when you pay: with GoPrep you pay before you see a single AI score; with IELTS 9 you see your own essays scored first, then decide.

Bottom line

GoPrep is a legitimate AI IELTS platform with a demanding but real guarantee. It is not free, its prices are hidden until after sign-up, and its discount wheel is a sales tactic rather than a lucky draw.

Our advice: don't pay for any AI IELTS tool before you've seen it score your own writing. Score two or three essays for free with IELTS 9, check whether the feedback tells you exactly what to fix, and only then pick a plan.
