IELTS Writing Task 1 折れ線グラフ:Band 7 テンプレートと解答例

折れ線グラフは、IELTS Academic の Writing Task 1 で最もよく出る問題形式です。時間の経過に伴う傾向を読み取り、主要な特徴をまとめ、正確なトレンド表現を使えるかが問われます。このテンプレートは、どんな折れ線グラフにも応用できる Band 7 の構成です。2026年のテンプレート減点を避けながら使えます。

Band 7 折れ線グラフの構成

答案は 4つのパラグラフ、170〜190語 で書きます。

Introduction(1文:問題文のパラフレーズ)
Overview(2文:最も大きな傾向。数字は入れない)
Body 1(3〜4文:1つ目のグループの詳細データ)
Body 2(3〜4文:2つ目のグループの詳細データ)

語数の感覚をつかむには、Task 2 ワードカウンターが便利です。名前は Task 2 用ですが、Task 1 の語数確認にもそのまま使えます。

ステップ1:問題文を言い換える(Introduction)

問題文をそのまま写してはいけません。3〜4個のキーワードを類義語に置き換えます。

元の問題文: "The graph below shows the number of tourists visiting three European countries from 2000 to 2020."

言い換えた Introduction: "The line graph illustrates the volume of international visitors to three nations in Europe over a twenty-year period from 2000 to 2020."

言い換えのポイント:shows → illustrates、tourists → international visitors、countries → nations、from X to Y → over a twenty-year period。

ステップ2:Overview を書く(Band 7 の最重要ポイント)

Overview は Band 7 を狙ううえで最も大事なパラグラフ です。明確な Overview がないと、Task Achievement は Band 5 が上限になります。

2〜3個の大きなパターン を見つけましょう。

最後に最も高く(低く)なった線はどれか
最も大きく変化した線はどれか
交差する線や、ほぼ変わらない線はあるか

Overview テンプレート: "Overall, [Country A] saw the most significant increase across the period and ended as the most-visited destination, while [Country B] experienced a steady decline. [Country C] remained relatively stable throughout."

Overview には数字を入れません。 数字は Body パラグラフのためにとっておきましょう。

ステップ3:Body パラグラフ1(似た線をまとめる)

線を 2つの論理的なグループ に分けます。よくある分け方は次のとおりです。

増加する線と減少する線
数値が大きい線と小さい線
安定している線と変動が激しい線

Body 1 テンプレート(増加する線の場合): "In 2000, [Country A] received approximately 5 million tourists. This figure rose steadily over the next decade, reaching 8 million by 2010. The growth accelerated in the following ten years, peaking at 14 million in 2020, almost triple the initial level."

ステップ4:Body パラグラフ2(もう1つのグループ)

Body 2 テンプレート(減少する線と安定した線の場合): "By contrast, [Country B] began the period with the highest figure of 12 million visitors, but tourist numbers fell consistently to 7 million by 2020. [Country C] maintained relatively flat numbers, fluctuating only slightly between 4 and 5 million across the entire period."

折れ線グラフで使うトレンド表現

増加:

rose, climbed, increased, grew, surged, jumped, skyrocketed
a rise, an increase, growth, a surge

減少:

fell, declined, dropped, decreased, plummeted, slumped
a fall, a decline, a drop, a decrease

安定:

remained stable, plateaued, levelled off, stayed constant
a plateau, stability, no change

変動:

fluctuated, varied, oscillated
fluctuations, variation

程度を表す副詞:

significantly, considerably, dramatically, sharply(大きな変化)
gradually, slightly, marginally, modestly(小さな変化)
steadily, consistently(一定のペースの変化)

Band 7 の解答例(全文)

問題: 2000年から2020年までの3か国(A、B、C)の観光客数。

The line graph illustrates the volume of international visitors to three nations in Europe over a twenty-year period from 2000 to 2020.

Overall, Country A saw the most significant increase across the period and ended as the most-visited destination, while Country B experienced a steady decline. Country C remained relatively stable throughout.

In 2000, Country A received approximately 5 million tourists. This figure rose steadily over the following decade, reaching 8 million by 2010. The growth then accelerated, with visitor numbers peaking at 14 million by 2020, almost triple the initial level.

By contrast, Country B began the period with the highest figure of 12 million visitors, but tourist numbers fell consistently to 7 million by 2020. Country C maintained relatively flat numbers, fluctuating only slightly between 4 and 5 million across the entire period.

語数:165語 で、目安の150〜180語に収まっています。

よくあるミス

年ごとに1文ずつ書いてしまう(似た傾向はまとめましょう)
Overview を書き忘れる
問題文の "this graph shows" をそのまま使う
時制の混同(Task 1 の過去のデータは過去形で書きます)
